About the Practice

Employment exits since 1981 — both chairs of the table, and the whole country by email.

Mary Molloy Solicitors has practised from Dublin since 1981 — over 45 years across employment, company, family and estates work. This site exists for one recurring moment in working life: the document on the table — the settlement agreement requiring independent advice before signature, and the senior exit where the document itself should be negotiated before anyone advises on it. The practice reviews and negotiates these agreements constantly, from both sides of the table: employee-side advice and negotiation, and employer-side drafting — which is exactly why the advice in either chair is realistic rather than rehearsed.

Richard O’Shea, Solicitor

Richard leads the settlement and severance work with a formation that fits it: the Law Society of Ireland’s Diploma in Mediation — because exit negotiations are structured conversations, and the solicitor who can hold a firm line while keeping the deal alive gets better terms than either the bulldozer or the pushover; and the TEP designation (Trust and Estate Practitioner) — relevant more often than people expect, because senior packages raise share, pension and structure questions that reward a specialist’s eye. The firm’s wider employment practice — redundancy, unfair dismissal, workplace disputes — means the claims being waived in any agreement are valued from live experience of what they’re worth, not from a textbook.

How the Work Runs Here

Four habits, consistently applied. Speed without corners: agreements reviewed within 48 hours as standard — because deadlines are real even when softer than presented — with the review itself never abbreviated: every clause, every carve-out, every flag. The price stated plainly: the employer-contribution position confirmed before any work begins, the arrangement agreed with you in writing, and the honest statement that in most cases the contribution covers most or all of the cost. The recommendation given, not hedged: sign, ask, or think again — and when the deal on the table is a good one, you’ll be told so directly, because some agreements should simply be signed. Remote as a feature, not a compromise: the document by email, the advice by phone or video, the certificate handled without an office visit — with the Dublin and Kilkenny offices open whenever a sit-down serves better.
